Cycling holidays in Kent

The delightful thing about a cycling holiday in Kent is that you can enjoy coastal views, seaside towns, beautiful rural landscapes and a fantastic amount of history and castles all in one holiday. We think Kent is a bit of an underrated gem - it’s just as attractive as Devon and yet doesn’t seem to pull in the crowds in quite the same way. It’s also slightly old fashioned in a charming way.

Kent is known as the Garden of England, and for good reason! There are ancient orchards, market gardens and grazing livestock. The food scene is pretty hot around here, there’s some great fish, a fair few local farm shops dotted around and vineyards to visit.

Our cycling routes stick to parts of Kent which are fairly flat, and the good news is that there are more specialist traffic-free bike paths here than anywhere else in England. You can virtually cycle for an entire day along the coastal wall. The maritime history of the coast offers much to explore, including a series of old cinque ports which were built hundreds of years ago and some spectacular castles in Dover, Walmer and Deal. Inland, Sandwich was recently declared ‘the most complete medieval town in England’ whilst Canterbury offers a different type of history, with all its associations of pilgrims and Chaucer. Nearby Leeds Castle is just an astonishingly grand place to stay.
