Gentle walking holidays

The Carter Company is well known for its gentle walking holidays and we offer a unique range of these easy holidays in Britain and Europe. In fact most of our tours fall into the ’easy walking holidays’ category. We believe that slow travel is the way to go and having shorter distances and less onerous terrain allows the time to slow down and really take in the detail of the surrounding sounds and sights.

Our creative routes are flexible

Many of our gentle walking tours have optional walks - perhaps in combination with a boat trip or a chauffeur driven car ride. If the distances are not optional, they likely will be less than 5 miles (8 km), with few hills. We are also happy to adjust existing trip distances on our published holidays so that we transfer you part way along the route. This allows our customers the luxury of time to slow down and soak up their surroundings, the atmosphere and the local culture. It also leaves plenty of time for pit stops, drinking coffee and checking out local museums!
