Touring holidays in the Lake District

The Lake District - one of the most unique and breath-taking places in the entire United Kingdom offers a wonderful location for a touring holiday.. William Wordsworth himself, a resident in the area for much of his life, called it: ‘the loveliest spot that man hath ever found’. It’s nature in full flourish, teeming with wildlife, and countryside as green and as lush as the freshest spring grass. It has everything: dramatic valleys, gushing streams and rivers, majestic mountains and the most gorgeous expanses of open water. Sprinkled with utterly charming little villages and towns which offer a slice of ‘real England’, and blessed with some of the most luxurious boutique hotels and the finest restaurants in the country, we really can’t recommend the Lake District enough.

Numerous authors were beguiled by the landscape and visiting their houses tells of life in their time in the area. Some have remarkable gardens, others exhibit an Arts and Crafts flavour. We like to include a lake cruise in our itineraries, a high pass with breath-taking views, an isolated cosy inn, a local bakery and maybe a chat with a hill farmer. There’s just so much to explore!
